Dog Owner's Guide advertising information

At this time (2008) we're accepting almost no new advertising. . . .

We accept very little advertising and you're probably not really interested in advertising with us anyway when you find out what we want. . . .

We run our site as an educational service to dog owners around the world. With over seven and a half million unique visits and ten million page views last year (logged), we've had many contacts from various advertising placement agencies and not a few offers to purchase the site during the many years we've been doing this. If we were interested only in income from the site we would have long since accepted their offers.

We feel our purpose is to provide the best information we can about a variety of subjects concerning dogs and their owners, not serve as filler between intrusive, cutesy flash objects, annoying javascript popups or small, ugly, low resolution videos, all designed to show how clever some agency or web company's designers are.

We're very strict about what advertising we do accept: It must be:

Dog related;
Not for an advocacy group, (especially, but not limited to, Animal Rights organizations);
not an ad for fringe diets or a dietary supplement; (We have had problems with many small petfood and diet supplement distributors and manufacturers as it seems they feel the only way they can be heard is to make shrill, unsubstantiated claims about their products compared to others.);
Not some sort of educational material we haven't reviewed first,
Not advertising for products or sites we haven't screened first. (Not after the ad appears)
Not dog breeder/kennel advertising. (We can't evaluate breeders and don't intend to try)
Not Flash
Not so ugly it makes it impossible to read our content
Not video that loads with the page
In fact, no video at all. Ever
Did we say "No Flash!"

And of course we reserve the right to refuse any and all advertising for any reason whatever, solely at our discretion.

We have the luxury of being able to refuse most advertising and intend to keep doing so.

If you're still interested and you have a good product or service you believe in than yes, by all means contact us and we'll talk. We're not just a small business, we're a micro-mini business so it doesn't matter if nobody ever heard of you yet, we'll listen.

Just please, if we're not going to fit together then don't waste your time and ours, OK?
